A goalless draw marks the opening of the spring part of the season

We opened the spring part of the championship with a goalless draw against Željezničar (0:0).

In the first half, spectators witnessed several good chances on both sides – the hosts had two one-on-one situations with Marko Marić facing Joseph Amoah and Dženan Haračić, but on both occasions, our goalkeeper reacted excellently, while Zrinjski missed their best opportunities towards the end of the half when Nemanja Bilbija threatened first, followed by Mario Ćuže and Igor Savić after a corner.

Furthermore, the first half was marked by Silvio Ilinković’s injury, and as he is a U21 player, Željko Petrović opted for a double substitution – Mario Tičinović was also substituted, with Filip Bradarić and Franko Sabljić coming in.

The second half wasn’t as eventful. Zrinjski mostly controlled the game and had possession, but they didn’t create clear chances in front of Željezničar’s goal, while the home team crafted the best opportunity for 1:0 in the 59th minute when Haris Ovčina found himself alone in front of Marić, but his shot went over the crossbar.

Interestingly, in today’s match, Marko Marić, Antonio Ivančić, and the returning Igor Savić made their 50th official appearance wearing the armband.

Our next league match is on Sunday, February 25th, at home, and our opponent will be FK Igman.
