The WWin league of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been writing its history since the 2002/2003 season, and we can proudly state that many “premier league” records are in our possession.
Many of these records were set in the 2021/2022 season when we, under the coaching of Sergej Jakirović, won the championship title with 27 points ahead of FK Tuzla City.
That season, we secured the title with 84 points, undoubtedly the most dominant performance in the history of Bosnian football. It will be recorded in the history books that from the 11th to the 24th round, we achieved fourteen consecutive victories, surpassing the record of FK Željezničar, which had twelve victories in the 2011/2012 season.
To remind you, Zrinjski’s series started after a loss to Radnik (0:1) in Bijeljina, after which we won against Sloboda (1:0), Široki Brijeg (4:0), Velež (1:0), Sarajevo (1:0), Željezničar (3:0), Borac (4:1), Tuzla City (2:0), Posušje (3:1), Leotar (6:2), Rudar (1:0), Radnik (4:1), Sloboda (2:0), Radnik (4:0), and Tuzla City (5:0), until our record streak was halted in Banja Luka with a draw against Borac (1:1).
The record that is in our possession now presents us with an opportunity to strengthen it again, as we reached the number of fourteen consecutive victories in the league with yesterday’s triumph.
To remind you, our current streak began last season at the start of the third round, when the Plemići, under the guidance of Željko Petrović, recorded eleven consecutive victories. We successively defeated Željezničar (2:0), Borac (2:1), Zvijezda (4:0), Velež (1:0), Sloga (2:0), Sarajevo (4:3), Posušje (1:0), Široki Brijeg (3:0), GOŠK (4:1), Tuzla City (4:1), and Igman (4:1). The winning streak continued this season with victories against GOŠK (4:1), Posušje (1:0), and Sloga (3:1).
On the path to the fifteenth consecutive victory, Borac stands in our way once again…
