Derby against Borac to conclude the second round

Derby against Borac to conclude the second round

We will conclude the second round of the championship with a home derby against Borac, who arrives in Mostar as the league leader with a nine-point advantage over the reigning champions.

In the three spring rounds, Vinko Marinović’s team recorded two home victories (Tuzla City 2:1, GOŠK 3:0) and an away draw (Velež 0:0), extending their unbeaten league run to a round twenty matches, considering their only defeat came at the start of the season away to Željezničar (0:2).

Borac is certainly having its best season, arguably one of the best in Premier League history.

For comparison, the two-time champions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after 21 rounds, are only two points behind our record-setting performance from the 2021/2022 season when we clinched the title with a record 27 points ahead of the competition. This is undoubtedly the strongest indicator that Borac is deservedly leading the league race so far.

The first-half season derby in Banja Luka ended in a draw (0:0), and when it comes to matches in Mostar, tradition is definitely on Zrinjski’s side, as Borac is still awaiting its first victory.

Zrinjski will once again be without the injured Silvio Ilinković, who has been sidelined since the injury against Željezničar, while Kerim Memija and Mario Ćuže will miss out due to cards, and Željko Petrović, who was sent off against Sloga, will also not be on the bench.

Just like in Banja Luka in the first half of the season, the derby will be officiated by Irfan Peljto.
