Today, the 35-year-old native of Mostar signed a contract until the end of the 2024/2025 season, returning to his home club after a full twelve years during which he played in Ukraine (Zorya Lugansk), Russia (Kuban Krasnodar, Dinamo Moscow), Germany (Stuttgart), Italy (Palermo), and China (Henan).

Šunjić made his official debut in the jersey of the Plemići at the age of 18, on August 2, 2007, in a European defeat against Partizan (0:5). At the start of the 2010/2011 season, he went on loan abroad for the first time, to Belgian side Kortrijk, after which he returned to Mostar and in the first half of the 2011/2012 season reached the milestone of 105 official appearances wearing the club’s emblem.
