HŠK Zrinjski Mostar and NK Široki Brijeg have reached an agreement for the transfer of the 26-year-old midfielder, after which Ćavar signed a three-year contract with the Nobles and once again took the jersey number 42.
“Of course, I am happy to be a Zrinjski player again, and I look forward to all the challenges ahead for the team and me. This club is where I started my professional football career, and my feelings for Zrinjski have always been special. Clearly, I won’t need time to adjust, as familiar faces welcomed me in the club and the dressing room,” said Ćavar.
Ćavar joined Zrinjski as a 16-year-old in 2014, signed his first professional contract two years later, and made his official debut for the first team on May 28, 2017, in a victory against Sloboda (3:0) when the team celebrated winning its fifth championship title.
At the start of the 2017/2018 season, he became a regular player in the first team, and then in the winter transfer window, he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt.
“I spent four great years at Zrinjski before going to Eintracht, but only six months as a first-team member. Of course, it was a great opportunity that couldn’t be missed, but because I quickly transferred abroad, I am excited to play in the jersey with the ribbon again and believe I can help the team achieve its set goals, which are always the highest possible when it comes to Zrinjski,” added the returning player.
As an Eintracht player, Ćavar was loaned to NK Osijek and Greuther Fürth, and then in 2021, he signed with Široki Brijeg, where he became the captain and reached 100 appearances for the club at Pecara.
“I return as a more experienced and better player, ready to give my all in every match to help the team. The best years of my career are ahead of me, and I genuinely believe that great things are also ahead for Zrinjski. I would like to sincerely thank NK Široki Brijeg for the three years we spent together; I will always remember my time at Pecara fondly. I enjoyed respect and love from day one, and I will never forget that,” concluded Ćavar.
Welcome back to HŠK Zrinjski Mostar, Marijan! We wish you many successful appearances in the jersey with the ribbon!
