Today, we received the sad news that Franjo Vladić Kulje, one of the greatest footballers from Mostar of all time, passed away at the age of 74.
Born on October 19, 1950, in Mostar, he was a member of the golden generation of FK Velež in the 1970s. He spent practically his entire career with the Mostar club, except for two seasons when he played for Greek club AEK.
He wore the jersey of the Yugoslav national team 24 times – making his debut in 1972 against England (1-1) at Wembley, where he scored the first of his three goals. His last match for the national team was played five years later against Mexico (1-5).
Immediately after the club’s reactivation, he got involved with HŠK Zrinjski Mostar. In the 1995/1996 season, he served as the head coach of the first team, later as an assistant to Žarko Barbarić and Blaž Slišković, and for many years, he was a scout for the football academy.
HŠK Zrinjski expresses its deepest and most sincere condolences to the family and friends of our beloved Kulje.
