HŠK Zrinjski Mostar is forced to react with an official statement following yesterday’s match between HŠK Zrinjski and FK Velež (1:0).
Although we should be happy and satisfied with the fourth consecutive victory in the league, or another triumph in the city derby, unfortunately, we are obliged to express regret over the events after the match and, as we always do, strongly condemn any form of violence and inappropriate and destructive behavior.
HŠK Zrinjski also wants to emphasize clearly that it will continue, as always, to call on all stakeholders of our club football to reason and peace, because any other behavior can have far-reaching consequences.
Unfortunately, in the days leading up to yesterday’s match, this call for reason and peace was sorely lacking, especially from irresponsible media who, although the heightened tensions were clear, showed a shocking level of unprofessionalism. Instead of clearly condemning any form of violence, which is normal in the civilized world, they actually directly and indirectly encouraged such violence!
We witness a lack of professionalism today when completely irresponsible and untrue reports are written about yesterday’s events. We consider it very manipulative and dangerous to publish that “fans jumped over the fence after the final whistle and headed towards the club’s official premises,” as it misleads the public, which may incorrectly conclude that the fans invaded the field with the aim of attacking the players of the visiting team, which definitely does not correspond to the truth.
Of course, we find it inappropriate to read reports about Zrinjski facing point deductions, but from the media whose animosity towards our club grows as our successes grow, we can expect nothing else.
HŠK Zrinjski turns to the semi-final match of the Cup on Wednesday against FK Sloga with another call to all stakeholders of our club football to reason and peace.
